As expected the organisers went forward with the race and decided to start it upwind – the clockwise route. Only two Seascapers, Sven and Dirk on Seascape27s, feel confident enough to try and start the race and even they said they might turn around quite fast. We took the RIB out of the channel to see what are the conditions put there. The scouting team was hit by a squall with 40 knots. Seawater was blown up in the air and rain was flying horizontally. That was the final nail in the coffin for us. The great battle between Phil and Per will have to wait another year I guess. They both agreed that it is not worth the risk. So the three other 27s will go out fully-crewed and in the opposite direction and try to beat some speed records in the shadow of the island. We will report how both plans play out.
